After having to flee from the Falaise Pocket, the escaped German troops ran for the Seine crossing. Another river giving them trouble having crossed the Dives before in the Falaise pocket.
A large number of the ones who escaped would have to fight the Allies again just one month later up North in The Netherlands in the area of Nijmegen and Arnhem during Operation Market-Garden.
Could maybe too big an ego or lack of leadership of Monty been the cause of yet another battle? Well, who can say. That's another subject for another website I would suggest...
