Author
Erik van Leeuwen (20 May 1960) is from The Netherlands and is an amateur historian.
He likes to do research on maps, stories, battle reports, cities, villages, roads and especially tracing back pictures taken in 1944 when the Falaise Pocket took place.
He tries to find (or takes) comparative pictures and likes to present them both, then and now, on this website.
Almost every year he dwells off to La basse Normandie, the lower part of Normandy in France for a few days to do some more research.
Sometimes the spot of a non-caption picture is discovered. History is fun!
